He emigrated to Australia in 1850 with his father and stepmother and settled in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They arrived in Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on the costal schooner "Mary Stewart" on 29 Feb 1850.[3]
He married Matilda Bale about 1861 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.[4]
