Hannah was born March 8, 1819 in Ohio (birthdate from headstone). She was the daughter of Henry Slaughter and Penny Taylor.
Hannah and Hiram Darr were married in Coshocton, Ohio on Aug 13, 1835.[1] Her husband passed away in 1860, and the census shows that she still had 6 children living at home.[2]
She passed away on Christmas Eve, 1900 and is buried in Chillicothe, Missouri.[3]
Obituary:[4]
"Mrs. Maria Darr, one of the county's oldest settlers, died on the evening of December 24 at her home in Chula, of dropsy. She was 81 years old. Mrs. Darr was the widow of Hiram Darr, who preceded her in death many years ago. She was a native of Ohio and, with her husband, came here when the country was young. They at first settled on Grand River near the present location of Graham's Mill. Mr. Darr built a mill there in the early '50s. It was burned in 1859.
Mrs. Darr was the mother of nine children, four of whom survive her. They are Hiram, Miles, Samuel and Barnet S. Darr, the latter of Randolph County. A number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren are among the living descendants.
The funeral took place Tuesday and interment was made in the May Cemetery."
