F.L. Slaven's history of the Slaven(s) family (and subsequent works based on it) say James is a twin brother of Phillip Slavens, b. 1818. James married Mary Davis in 1829 and was a father in 1831, so the 1818 date is obviously incorrect. If he was a twin, his mostly likely twin sibling would be Benjamin Slavens. Circumstantial evidence points to his middle name being "Harvey;" many trees give him (and Phillip) a middle initial of "T" which was likely a "twin" signifier. Based on documents in his probate file, James likely died on 15 Aug 1851.
