Biography
Pryor Smallwood was born in 1771 in Saint Johns Parish, Prince George's, Maryland, son of Benjamin Smallwood (1733–1778) and Lydia Hutchinson (~1743–~1776).[1]
In 1790, Pryor was living in , Charles, Maryland. [2]
Marriages and Family
Pryor first married an unknown woman (some descendants believe she was Cherokee). Some descendants also claim they have proof of this heritage.
His first wife must have died shortly after Elizabeth was born. Pryor marries for a second time to Eleanor (Higgins) Abell, the former wife of William Abell. Pryor and Eleanor were married before 18 March 1805 in Kentucky. We have no record to prove this marriage, but we do have the marriage bond for his stepdaughter, Margaret Abell, where her stepfather, Pryror Smallwood, gave his consent to the marriage.[3]
Prior and Eleanor had at least one known child:
Vincent S. Smallwood (1805-1883)
In 1810, Pryor was living in Elizabethtown, Hardin, Kentucky. [4]
Pryor died in 1810 in Hardin, United States, aged 38. He was buried in Moore Cemetery #1, Hardin County, Kentucky.[5][6][7][1]
