Biography

Harry Lawton Smethurst was born on the 1st November 1868 at Birkenhead in Cheshire, England.

He married Annie Kilner daughter of Caleb Kilner and some ten years his junior during the final quarter of 1902 within the district of Doncaster in Yorkshire

By 1911 he was aged 42 abd working as an Architect for a Colliery company and they were living with two children and two servants at Dunregit House Buckingham Road Conisbro Rotherham, Conisbrough, Yorkshire.

In 1921 he was aged 52 and working as an Architect for thr Denaby & Cadeby Main Collieries Ltd and also on his own account and they were living with two children; Gwendoline bc1903 & Harry bc1908 at The Bungalow Conisboro, Conisbrough, Yorkshire.

By 1939 he was retired and he and his wife were living at The Bungalow, Station Road, Conisbrough, Conisbrough, Yorkshire.
