Birth and Parents

Samuel Smith Sr. was born in Massachusetts.

Samuel, the son of James Smith and Elizabeth Smith was born in April 1704 and baptized on 28 April of that year at Hadley, Massachusetts.^[1]

Marriage and Children

Samuel married Margaret Lee on 22 December 1726 at Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut.^[2]They had six children born at Connecticut:

1. Lt. Samuel Smith Jr. (b. 13 Jan 1727; d. 1756, Greenfield, CT),^[3] m. 5 Jan 1748/49 at Sharon, CT, Mary Johns (1729-1761)

Death and Burial

Samuel Smith Sr. died on 22 August 1767 in his 63rd year at Sharon, Connecticut.^[9]He is buried in the Hillside Cemetery at Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut.^[10]
