Armand Armstrong Smith, born in 1891, was the eldest son of politician and E.D. Smith and Sons founder Ernest Smith and Christina Armstrong. [1][2] He married Evelyn Hannah Gibson in 1916.[3]
During World War One, he signed up with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1915 after serving with the 77th Wentworth Militia Unit and the 20th Overseas Battalion, attaining the rank of major. He had been working at E.D. Smith and listed his occupation as "manufacturer, etc., etc."[4]
