George was born in 1855 the son of Edward Sidney Smith (~1831 - ) and Jemima Ellen (Rook) Smith (~1834 - 1920), and his birth was registered in the 4th quarter 1855 in Faversham, Kent.[1][2]
1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 George was living in Francis Street, Deptford, Kent with his parents Edward and Jemima and his siblings Emma and Joseph. Also living there was an Eliza Smith but not shown as a daughter.[3]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 George a labourer, was living in Strood, Kent with his parents Edward and Jemima and his siblings Joseph, David, Samuel, Alice, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Margaret.[4].
George married Fanny Simpson (~1855 - ) and the marriage was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1875 in the Medway registration district.[5]
