Biography
Ann was born about 1735, estimated from date of marriage. She is shown as over 21 on her marriage licence. There had been a previous sister Ann who died in infancy 1731.
Ann was married to William Stephenson on 31 May 1760 at Cheddleton, a village about 3 miles from Leek. They were married by licence and on the licence application he was described as William Stephenson the younger, a cordwainer and bachelor.[1][2]
Ann is mentioned as a daughter in her father's will dated 23 March 1764 "Anne the wife of William Stevenson".[3] She is also mentioned as aunt Ann Stevinson in the will of her nephew Robert Kidd dated 19 February 1798.[4]
