Biography

Caleb Smith, the son of Stephen Smith and Jemima Parmalee, was born 110 October 1753 and died at sea in 1810. On 10 October 1782 he married Sarah Russell. They had 5 children: Edward Russell, Sarah, Caleb, Huldah, and Almira.[1]

Both Caleb Smith and his son, Edward Russell Smith, were lost at sea in October 1810.[2]

Caleb served during the Revolutionary War in the Sixth Company, First Regiment, 1775, under Gen. Wooster and was commanded by Capt. William Douglas.[3]

Caleb was buried in the Old Cemetery, East Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA, on the left (east) side of the grass road from the original entrance, row with the 2nd (southern most) giant white pine tree. [4]

I have him as ship's captain, born 10/10/1753 probably East Haven, CT, son of Deacon Stephen Smith and Jemima Parmalee, died at sea 1811. I have 5 children including Sarah and Almira. I would like to add this information, with your OK. Quentin Smith
