Biography
Casson Smith was born in Johnson County, Iowa, to Edwin Dempster Smith and Sabina Bird. He lived many years in Johnson County doing various jobs. He never married. At the time of his death, he was living in Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa. Several newspaper articles indicate that his funeral was held 30 November 1939 at the Federated Church in Oxford, Johnson, Iowa, United States. In the United States Census 1870 and 1880, he is listed as Carson Smith.[1]
