Biography

James was born in August 1823 in Stapleton, Gloucestershire. He was baptised in St Stephen's Church, Norwich, on 15 August 1824.

In the 1841 census, he was residing with his parents and one sister in Rudgeway, Stapleton. His occupation was given as carpenter.
