Biography

- Ruth was daughter and youngest child of Eleazer and Ruth (Davis) Smith.

- Her parents were married in Stokes Co, NC and their first five children were born in Rowan Co., NC.

- In 1816 they began their trip to Wayne Co., IN, but stopped in Cynthiana Co, KY where Ruth was born on 4 Oct 1816.

- Ruth married John Cox Peelle in 1831 Wayne County, IN. At that time the Smith family lived on a farm in the Greens Fork area north of Williamsburg.

- John and Ruth Peelle had eight children, four girls and four boys. At the time of Ruth's death 12 July 1884 only the four boys were living.
