Rose Joyce Smith was born on the 11th of November 1926 in Hobart, Tasmania to Robert Smith and Angelina Banfield. [1]
On the 21st November 1942, aged 16, Rose was admitted to the New Town Charitable Institution and later discharged on the 10th of December 1942. [2]
Just 6 days later, on the 16th of December 1942, she was readmitted to the New Town Charitable Institution where she remained until her discharge on the 19th of February 1943. [2]
At the time of Rose's admittance to New Town Charitable Institute, it's official name at the time was St John's Park and it operated from 1936 to 1994. [3] St John's Park was located off New Town Road, New Town, Tasmania. It's categorised on the Find and Connect website as a Convalescent Home and Disibility Institution. St John's Park was used to temporarily accommodate state wards and to house both adults and children with mental and or intellectual disabilities. [3]
Rose passed away on the 3rd of January 1998 in Tasmania.
