MEMORIAL ID 86118737 • Rev. William Rush Smith was a Methodist Minister. He had a charge in East Prentiss. He was married to Mary Jane (Cryer) Smith in Morgan County, Alabama on 27 Jan 1884 by a J. M. Joiner, M.G. Mary Jane is buried at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Hartsell, Morgan County, Alabama, USA. (The Smith's son--Joseph Joiner Smith--is also buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, as well as Mary Jane's brother William Ferguson Cryer). After Mary Jane passed away, Rev. Smith lived with daughter Francis "Fannie" Elizabeth (Smith) Nichols-Brackeen and was buried at Liberty United Methodist Church at the time of his passing. Later when she was shot and killed by a drunk x-son-in-law, the family buried her next to her father.
