Mattie was born in 1867. She was the daughter of William Smith and Sarah Ann Link. She passed away in 1920. [1]
(Death Notice: V105,#8550,1920. Obit, Miami Herald,Saturday, 14Aug1920): Mrs. Howard Gibbons died at the family residence yesterday at 1:30 AM after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 PM from the undertaking establishment of H.M. king. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Gibbons is survived by her husband and two children, besides two sisters, Mrs. George H. Shibley of Washington and Mrs. J.A.Boyles of Baltimore. Wilbur L. Smith of Washington is a brother of the deceased. Mrs. Gibbons was born in Kirksville,MO., and after her marriage lived in Pennsylvania, Tennessee and the Canal Zone where Mr. Gibbons was employed on construction work for five years.
