Lafayette was born about 7 October 1834 in Upson County, Georgia. Lafayette was a Civil War Soldier, fighting with the 42nd Alabama Infantry for the Confederacy - he was wounded in battle and captured twice - once while in the Cavalry near Corinth and during the siege of Vicksburg. He married Julia Tarver about 1854. He passed away 20 August 1911 in Lamar County, Alabama. He is buried at Kingsville Cem, Detroit, Lamar, AL. [1]
