My parents were Whitfield T. Smith (b. December 16, 1857, Steward, Ill. - d. February 9, 1933) and Ellen Allbee Smith (NN 107207) (b. August 22, 1860, Creston, Ill. - d. March11, 1941, Rochelle). They were married December 18, 1889, and had 7 children; Bert W. (died in infancy), Clarence A., Harold J., Arvene G., Vernon R., and Lincoln H. Smith.

My paternal grandparents were James A. Smith (b. February 20, 1832, Ohio - d. November 9, 191) and Martha J. Cooper Smith (b. June 4, 1837, NJ - d. August 27, 1913). My maternal grandparents were Samuel Allbee (b. January 9, 1827, VT - d. January 19, 1911) and Mary Caroline Allbee (b. April 14, 1831, VT - d. January 23, 1892, Creston).

I was born October 20, 1895, near Steward, Ill. I attended grade school and 1 years of high school in Steward and graduated from Rochelle High School in 1914. On December 18, 1915, I married Harold Bertram Yetter (b. February 23, 1892, Steward - d. March 28, 1937, Billings Mem. Hosp., Chicago). He was the son of George W. Yetter (1866 - 1955) and Julia Gulden Yetter (1867 - 1946). All Yetters are buried in Steward Cemetery. He had one sister, Miriam Yetter Straub, who lives in Naperville, Ill. Her husband, Rev. Harry Straub, performed our wedding ceremony. Rev. Straub died in 1922. We lived on various farms until 1929, when we moved to Rochelle. The next year we moved to hebron, Ill., where my husband was a mechanic. After his death, I returned to Rochelle, where I have since resided.

Our children are: 1. Dean B. (b. April 4, 1919, Davis Jct., Ill.) married Linda June Button (b. June 13, 1921) on June 24, 1944. Their children are: (a) Lynn Dee (January 3, 1947, Elkhorn, Wis.) who married Deyonne Knight (August 19, 1953) on December 29, 1973; (b) DeAnne Beth (February 18, 1959, Elkhorn). 2. Virginia Miriam (b. June 5, 1923, Rochelle) who married Francis J. Coleman (b. May 2, 1920) on August 29, 1942, at St. Patrick's Church of Rochelle. Their children are: (a) Mary Eileen (May 15, 1947) married to John R. North (September 16, 1942) on August 3, 1968. Their children are: Christian Marie (August 1, 1970), Eric Matthew (December 12, 1971), and Chandra Nannette (July 15, 1974); (b) James Harold Coleman (b. August 18, 1949); (c) Jean Daria (b. June 17, 1954). 3. Duane Harold (b. September 12, 1931, Hebron, Ill.) married Marilyn M. Morrissey (b. June 27, 1931). Their children are: (a) Catherine Elaine (b. August 26, 1954, Ft. Devans, Mass.); (b) Jeffry Duane (b. August 30, 1955, Rochelle); (c) Ann Elizabeth (b. November 2, 1961, Quincy, Ill.); (d) Andrew Walter (b. November 17, 1963, Quincy); (e) John Patrick (b. August 4, 1971, Arlington Hts., Ill.).

From 1943 to 1961 I worked in the offices of Del Monte Corp. I am a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle and have held offices there as well as other organizations to which I belong.

I joined NSDAR on October 12, 1964, through Samuel Herrick, but I have several other Ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. Samuel Herrick served in Reg. of Militia in Mass., 2nd Parish Co., Co. of Militia Reading of Co. David Green, Capt. John Flindt's Co.
