Biography
Stanley Edward James Smye or Smy was born in 1895 at Tuddenham in Suffolk. He was the son of Benjamin Smye or Smy and his wife Ellen, born Ellen Sarah Mann [1] [2].
In 1901 Stanley E. J. Smye was living in "The Street" at Tuddenham in Suffolk with his parents Benjamin and Ellen S. and their other children. His age was given as 5, implying a birth date in 1895 or 1896. His birthplace was given as Tuddenham, Suffolk [2].

It seems to me likely that "Smye" is a better LNAB than "Smy". One of his siblings already has that name. But because I don't really know, I'm not going to change it, in the hope that someone better acquainted with the family may come along.
