Obituary: Douglas Henry Snow February 13, 2014 Douglas Henry Snow February 13, 2014 Douglas Henry Snow 1927-2014 SNOW, Douglas Henry - 86, Canso, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family on Thursday, February 13, 2014, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso he was a son of the late Harry and Angela (Pellerine) Snow. Doug was a fisherman all his life. He worked as a fish cutter at National Sea Products in Halifax and Roy Jamieson's plant in Canso and also fished for years with his best friend, Pat Parker. After retirement from fishing, Doug spent most of his time in his shed building odd things, sail boats, bird houses and light houses. He loved his sports, especially baseball and hockey. His favourite teams were the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays although they never won. He will be lovingly missed and never forgotten by his loving wife of 65 years, Gertie (Mason) ; daughters, Sheila Carter (Don), Canso; Ida Horne (Sandy), Antigonish; Helen Robinson (Gerald), Conception Bay South, NL; Eileen Cohoon (Vince), Canso; Jean Feltmate (Dana), Hazel Hill; Kathleen Myatt (Joey), Fox Island; Joan Hamer (Ron), Canso; son, Doug Jr. (Kathy), Canso; daughter-in-law, Carol Ann, Little Dover; also left to mourn are his 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his close friend, Theresa Casey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennie George, Truro; June Baker (Gord), North Port, FL; Rita More, Halifax; Millie Cummings (Jim), Halifax; brother, Fred (Marion), Conn, USA. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. You are gone but are still living in the hearts of those who stayed. He was predeceased by his son, Gary; sisters, Esther Carter and Ida Snow; brothers, Henry, Michael, Ellsworth and Leonard. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia, Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso or to a charity of one's choice.
