Charles Southern was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1920.^[1] He was the son of Charles Southern and Nellie Sandipher.^[2]

He was a veteran of the Tuskegee Airmen program and became a communications officer. He underwent aviation cadet training at Yale University and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He died in 1998.^[2][3][4][5]
