Goal

The goal of this project is to discover early settlers in North Carolina with the Moore surname. Included are Moore Profiles for the oldest descendant of persons born in North Carolina prior to 1830 or born prior to 1830 and immigrated to North Carolina.

The name Moore has several variants, including Moore, More, Moor, and Mohr.

• Add Category:North Carolina, Moore Name Study to existing profiles of the oldest, we'll sourced Moore Family Descendant living in North Carolina. Looking especially for Moore profiles living in North Carolina prior to 1850 or the earliest known descendants with well documented sources.
• Create New Profiles--Focus on Iredell and Rowan County Moore's, add [[Category:North Carolina, Moore Name Study]] to each of the earliest family members born before 1820
• Find Moore's before 1860 in US Census for North Carolina that were not born in the United States or born in other states, crate their profiles, if not already done

4. if they lived in the US between 1850 and 1940 there is almost always a Census record for them into the sources section.
5. Do a Google search to see if there are any books written about the family or the region where the family lived. Many older books are public domain without copyright restrictions. You may also come across online genealogies. Be cautious of this information unless it contains original sources, such as Census, marriage, will, or land records.
6. After adding the source citations to the profile, you may want to write a story about the person from what you have learned, list their parents, spouse, and children in the profile. You will be surprised what you will discover from doing this. The Census also tells you where they were born and their occupation, among other things.
