About the Project

The Snow Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Snow name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Snow name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual team studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Snows), by time period (18th Century Snows), or by topic (Snow DNA, Snow Occupations, Snow Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

Hello, my name is Frank Walsh and I am interested in the Snows of Conception Bay North, Newfoundland and Jersey, the Channel Islands. My Grandmother was a Snow from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and a direct descendant of the jersey Snows and probably Devon, England. Family names include Esnouf, Le Breton, Coutanche, etc.

Does anyone have any information on Snows in Georgia? I am descended through Rebecca Ann Snow (1819-1907) through her father, Samuel G Snow (1787-1838). The earliest record I have of Samuel is his marriage to Polly Copeland in Greene County, Georgia in 1806. I have found some implications to his neighbor being his brother, John Providence Snow. Does anyone know of where this Snow line could have migrated from and who possible parents could be?

My grandmother's maiden name was Rilla Ruth Snow, her father was Clark Tabor Snow of Sebastopol. CA. My 2x great-grandfather was Benjamin Franklin Townsend Snow born in Vermont, and 3x G-GF was Obed Snow also of Vermont and died in WI. My 4x G-GF was Bernice Snow of Vermont, 5X G-GF Lemuel Snow, and 6x G-GF Solomon Snow. The family was a part of the Great Migration across the US, leaving family members rooted in Massetcuchetts, Vermont, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. I know that relations include Tabors, Pickerings, and Langlois.
