Biography

Willard was born in 1852. He is the son of Charles Spicer and Anna Campbell.

From History of the Descendants of Peter Spicer, Pg. 274:

661. Charles Henry Spicer 7, (Allen 6, Cyrus 5, John 4, John 3, Edward 2, Peter 1) was born Jan. 6, 1816, in Hoosick, New York. He died June 7, 1858, in Otisco, Michigan. He married, Oct. 27, 1841, in Pittstown, Anna Minerva, daughter of James and Mary (Bigelow) Campbell. In 1844 they removed to Otisco, Michigan, then a wilderness, and began life in this new portion of the country with fifteen dollars and a span of old horses. They experenced very hard times but energy and perseverance prevailed and they became well to do.

☨ According to Emma's death certificate, her maiden name was Newcomb, her father Giles Newcomb, her mother Harriet McArthur. However, her marriage record has her listed as 'Emma McArthur', and 1860 US Census, Oakfield, Kent County, MI, has Giles McArthur, 39, head of household, wife Harriet, 35, Emma, 5, and other children.
