Biography

George was born in 1845. He is the son of Richard Spoor and Christina Vosberg.

Co M 9th NYHA - Civil War Soldier Husband of Caroline M. (Brandow) Spoor - she died Jan. 19, 1918.

George Spoor, after a long illness, died on July 19th at the age of eighty-four years and two days. The funeral was conducted at Mrs. Peter Wink's home by the Rev. E. E. Davis; interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Spoor served through the Civil War in the heavy artillery and was Athens last surviving Grand Army veteran. Source: The Recorder, Catskill, NY - July 22, 1927
