"Capt. William Sprague, son of Joseph and Phoebe (Hutchinson) Sprague was born in 1763. He was a well known citizen of the town and was captain of the militia; he was also deputy sheriff of the county and filled other responsible places. He died in 1831, aged 68. He married Sarah, daughter of Nathan Sargent. The children were Joseph, born 1783, Roxa, born 1787, Lana, born 1789, Otis, born 1791, Alice, born 1795, Eliza E. born 1806."[1]
