John Wickey Stable was born in 1831 at Lynton, Devon, England, He was the son of John Wickey Stable, a convict transported to the Colony of Western Australia in 1857, and Louisa Bassett Jessett. ^[1]

He married Louisa Sarah Lister on 19 December 1862 at Islington, London, Middlesex, England, and immigrated to Australia shortly after.

He was a Solicitor in Gympie, Queensland, Australia.

He passed away at Ravenswood, in the Colony of Queensland, Australia on 24 December 1870, aged 35 years, killed when struck by lightning during a storm. ^[2]

He was first laid to rest in an unregistered cemetery behind the Ravenswood School. He was subsequently exhumed in 2017 and reinterred at Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood, Charters Towers Region, Queensland, Australia. ^[3] . ^[4]
