James was born to Nicholas and Phyllis Stacpoole in Limerick,[1] perhaps about 1622, shortly before his father's death.
James Stacpoole married Christian McMahon, perhaps about 1644, given the birth date of his son Philip.[1]
In 1653, among those "transplanted" by Cromwell's forces from county Limerick were James Stackpole, age 30, his wife Christian, age 24, and two young children. They were transplanted from an estate in Rathalgan in the Barony of Pebblebrian, which is the area just south south-west of Limerick City[2] That seems very likely to have been this couple.
In 1678, James inherited Ballymulcashel/Mountcashel, in county Clare from his first cousin Bartholomew Stacpoole.[1]. Perhaps he and his family had been living there already?
Philip, born 1645-46, judging from the dates on his sarcophagus in Limerick cathedral. He became and alderman and was Sheriff of Limerick City in 1688.
a second child, enumerated in the records of the transplantation, not mentioned in the ArcherFamily source. Given the information available, that could have been James Stackpole, the man born about 1652, then reportedly kidnapped from Ireland and transported to New England at the age of 14, who fathered the American branch of the Stackpoles. But there is as yet nothing like proof of that.
