At the age of 29 he married 31 year old Minnie Jane Tucker (the daughter of Richard Tucker) on 8 November 1916 in St. Mary, Oatlands Surrey, by Licence[3]. Charles was a Soldier with the 2nd Surrey Regiment. The witnesses were Fanny Staddon and Thomas Holding.

They had two children;

  1. May L Staddon (b. 18 Jan 1922)
  2. Alexander Richard J Staddon (b. 17 Jun 1923, d. 1999)

In the 1st World War Charles served as a Private with the East Surrey Regiment, and than as an Acting Corporal with the Machine Gun Corps, Company: WO 329. He was discharged on 31 March 1920, and was entitled to the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

His father James died on 17 October 1937 in Thistletown, Ontario, Canada.

In the 1939 England and Wales Register Charles L Staddon (51) was living with his wife Minnie J Staddon (53 b. 20 Feb 1886) and their daughter May L Staddon (17, b. 18 Jan 1922) at 67 Kings Avenue, Maldon and Coombe, Surrey, England. Also in the household were four other individuals.

Occupation: Government Messenger (Whitehall)

His wife Minnie died in 1960.

Charles passed away in 1970 at the age of about 81[4].
