Biography

There is no hard data on Miles’s parentage but I have found no other options to John and Mary. Other Genealogists closer to the Digby Stanton history, Sheryl Stanton and Becky Burns, are certain that Miles is John’s son. Miles fits into his family nicely. His parents lived in Sandy Cove. They had 3 siblings born in East Ferry and one in Bridgetown (documented but suspect), one on Digby Neck and Miles, reportedly, born in Plympton which is about a 15 km sail from Sandy Cove. The records suggest that John and Mary either did quite a lot of travelling, which is unlikely, or that there were recording inaccuracies which enhances the probability of a Digby Neck birth. A Digby Neck birth would resolve questions about his youth and when he became Catholic. While questions remain we know he lived and had parents and it is highly probable they were John and Mary.

He was born on 17 Dec 1833, Married as a Catholic on 16 Jan 1860 and died on 1 Sep 1909
