Phillip Stapleton was born in 1644 in York, Yorkshire, England to Philip Stapleton and his wife, Barbara Lennard. He married Margaret Gage on 1 May 1682. They had four children during their marriage. He died on February 2, 1729, in Wighill, Yorkshire, England, having lived a long life of 85 years.
