Mountain Democrat, Friday 5 Dec 1908 Death Of William Stearns
"William Stearns Sr., (Note, he is not Sr., his sons middle name is Nathan)of Coloma, died at that place on Thursday, the result of a stroke of paralysis he suffered some time ago and from which he never entirely recovered. He was a native of Massachusetts and 76 years of age., He was one of the earliest residents of Coloma, having lived there for 55years, where he engaged in farming and fruit raising; also owning the ditch supplying water to that section of the county.
In the early sixties he married Mrs. Jane McGonagle and one son, William Stearns, was born to them. The wife and son survive him and reside at Coloma.
The funeral took place this afternoon, Rev. John Appleton of Georgetown officiating.
Mr. Stearns was a member of El Dorado Lodge # 118 A. O. U. W. of this city."
