Notables Project
Jeremy Steig is Notable.

Jeremy Steig was a jazz flutist.

Jeremy was born in New York, New York on 23 September 1942. He was the son of William Steig and Elizabeth Mead.[1][2]

He began playing recorder at age 6, and at age 11, he began studying flute with Paige Brook of the New York Philharmonic.[3]

He began performing professionally while he was attending the High School of Music and Art in New York City.[4]

When he was 19 years old, he was injured in a motorcycle accident in Bermuda, and one side of his face was paralyzed. Six months later, after having surgery, he began playing the flute again with the assistance of a cardboard mouthpiece. Eventually he rebuilt his facial muscles and no longer needed the mouthpiece.[5]

When he was 21 years old, he recorded his first album, Flute Fever.[6] He appeared on more than 40 recordings.[7]

He did the cover art for many of his albums.[8]

He married Asako[9][10] on 1 April 2003.[11]

He died of cancer on 13 April 2016 in Yokohama, Japan.[12][13]
