Biography

Johann Michael Stephan was born in Muckenthal, Baden, Germany on 30 Dec 1798 to Georgius and Catharina (Schramm) Stephan.[1] On 24 Nov 1823, he married Theresia "Magdalena" Schnoerr in Kathalisch, Rittersbach, Mosbach, Baden.[2] According to baptism records they had the following children:[1]

  1. Anna Maria Stephan, b. 4 May 1825; d. 6 Dec 1903, Michigan; m. 15 Feb 1849, Johann Joseph Ehrman.
  2. Michael Stephan, b. 4 Apr 1836; d. 23 Feb 1923, Michigan; m. abt. 1861, Amelia Aldrich.
  3. Peter Stephan, b. 12 Feb 1840; d. 19 Feb 1910, Michigan; m. 10 Feb 1870, Clara Ann Doard.
  4. Franz Karl Stephan, b. 19 Apr 1842; d. 4 Apr 1918, Michigan; m. 1) 3 Oct 1865, Sarah Hunt (d. 1892); m. 2) Cynthia Sanderson.
  5. Joseph Stephan, b. 24 Apr 1846

As Michael didn't leave Germany with Magdalena and their younger children, it is assumed he died before 1854.
