Solomon Stephens was the son of Elisha and Sarah Stephens. Born 1810 in Knox County, Kentucky, he married Rachel Murphy. They lived on Marsh Creek in Whitley County, Kentucky (now McCreary County).
One account says Solomon and Rachel "would have been childless had not fourteen children come to bless their home."

All names and dates are from a family Bible in the possession of a granddaughter of son Henry T. Stephens. Note that Henry and four of his sisters married Ryans.
All of the children are found in Solomon and Rachel's family in the census of 1850 and/or 1860.
Solomon's birth and death dates are from his tombstone at Upper Marsh Creek Cemetery in McCreary Co., Ky.[1]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Solomon by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
