Biography

28th New York Infantry:

Enlisted 11 May 1861, mustered in 22 May 1861, Company D, POW 25 May 1862 at Winchester, Virginia, paroled 31 May 1862, mustered out 2 June 1863.

9th New York Heavy Artillery:

Sterling, Wallace M., 23; July 1, '63, Fort Mansfield; July 2; dis. Aug. 21, '63, for promotion 1st Lieut., 1st U. S. Colored Troops. Had served in Co. D, 28th N. Y. Infantry.
