Clyde was the son of Hampton "Hamp" Wall Sterling (1878 - 1962) and Winona Sterling Sterling (1880 - 1972)
He married Merle Myers Sterling (1919 - 1986) daughter of Alex E. Myers (1887 - 1971) and Velma Nettles Myers (1895 - 1967)
