Lt James Stevenson served with Little River District Regiment, South Carolina Militia during the American Revolution.

James served during the American Revolution as a Lieutenant from South Carolina.[3]

James provided an affidavit in the petition of his daughter Mary Seawright for Revolutionary Pension of her deceased husband, William Seawright. He stated that he had known them for many years and was present at thier marriage.[4]

James' will was written 24 Feb 1820 and proven 3 Jun 1822.[5] In his will he names the following heirs:
