When John Stewart (of Benmore) married he purchased the estate of Glenbuckie from his wife's ailing brother, Alexander Stewart (12th of Glenbuckie).

Upon John's death, the estate of Glenbuckie passed to his sister, Elizabeth.

Marriage

He married on 8 Aug 1752 to Mary Stewart the daughter of Alexander Stewart (10th of Glenbuckie)

Thus John Stewart became 13th of Glenbuckie.
