Elizabeth is named in the will of her father William Stewart, 1810, as the wife of James Bonnet [sic]
dated 6 April 1810.
"In the name of God Amen, I William Stuart of Monongalia County and State of Virginia being weak of body but of sound mind and memory and calling to mind the Mortality of the bodey (sic) do make constitute and ordain this my last will and Testament to be as followith; (sic) Firstly I do will and bequeath that by Body be decently buried in a Christian like manner and all funeral expences (sic) and Doctors bills be paid out of my personal Estate. Secondly I do will and bequeath that my son Alexander Stuart do make a Deed to his brother Charles Stuart for the land Charles bought of Robert Park in case I should not make one before my decease. Thirdly I do will and bequeath the plantation and tract of Land whereon I now live on to my two sons Daniel Stuart & Alexander Stuart to be equally divided between them quantity and quality but Alxander (sic) Stuart is to have the part adjoining him and the division line to run parallel with the line of Alexander Stuart. Fourthly I do will and bequeath the tract of land on Cheat River where James Bonnet now lives on to the children of said Bonnet that he has by Elizabeth his present wife reserveing (sic) to said Bonnet & Elizabeth the use of said land during their Natural Life. Fifthly I do further will and bequeath and appoint my son Alexander Stuart to make two Deeds of conveyance for two tracts of land in Harison (sic) County Each Deed to contain an equal quantity one deed to his Brother Robert Stuart the other to his sister Sarah McKinley wife of Thomas McKinley it being a tract of land that is Divided already and the Deeds is to be made according to the division already made the Deed that is mentioned above to Charles Stuart is all included in the same large tract. Sixthly I do will and appoint my son Alexander Stuart to make a deed of conveyance to Absolam Bowen for one hundred acres of land joining the Pennsylvania line. In conformity to a Bond given by William Stuart to John Stoopwood it being a tract formerly owned by Coonrod Bixler. In case William Stuart should not make one before his decease and also appoint my son Alexander Stuart to make a Deed to William Stuart for a tract of land he now lives on that he bought of his uncle William Stuart if one should not be made before his Uncles Decease. Seventhly I do will and bequeath the small tract of land on the Monongalia River known by the name of Stuart's Sugar Camp and also a small tract of land on the East side of Cheat River about forty three acres both wich (sic) tracts is to be sold and the proceeds to be divided equally among my children. Eighthly I do will and bequeath to my grand daughter Margret (sic) Stuart one gray horse one cow and heifer one bed and bedding. Ninethly I do will and bequeath that all my personal estate be sold by my executors at public vandue (sic) to the best advantage and the proceeds equally divided among all my children that is to Charles Stuart, Daniel Stuart, Alexander Stuart, Robert Stuart, Elizabeth Bennet and Sarah McKinley and Nancy Park always reserving to beloved wife Elizabeth her right of Dower and lastly do make constitute and ordain and appoint my son Alexander Stuart and my nephew William Stuart my executors to execute this my last will and Testament revoking all other wills. In witness whereof I set my hand and seal this 6th day of April 1810. his William x Stuart (Seal) mark"
Elizabeth and James settled on the Cheat River about two miles from her father and raised nine children:
William Bennett, Alexander Bennett, Robert Bennett, Thomas Bennett, Jane Bennett, Nancy Bennett, John Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett and Sarah Bennett.
