Biography
Redmond was born in Baltimore in 1878, the son of Charles Morton Stewart and Josephine Lurman.
He was an importer into Baltimore.
In 1900 he was returned to the Maryland House of Delegates.
He married Katherine Latimer Small in 1902 in York County, Pennsylvania.
They had 4 children:
- Josephine Lurman Stewart 1905–1990 • m. Dr. George Gross Finney Sr.
- Redmond Conyngham Stewart Jr. 1905–1986 • m. Ann W. Cochran
- Latimer Small Stewart Sr 1907–1985 • m. Eleanor Clark Wesley
- Cassandra Morris Stewart 1908–1977 • m. Alexander Johnston Cassatt a grandson of his namesake, President of the Pennsylvania Railroad, through Robert Kelso Cassatt.
He was a keen horse rider, riding in 15 Maryland Hunt Cups and winning in 1904 on Landslide. He founded the Green Spring Valley Hunt Club.
He passed away in 1936 and is buried in Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery. His widow passed away in 1976.
