Her father John C. is my 3rd great-grandfather. His life is shrouded in mystery, even his children were not sure of his origins as you can read in the notes. Some think he was born in PA and others think VT. All agree his cause of death was a tree falling on him. John C. was cutting wood for the Nauvoo Temple in Illinois (the second temple constructed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) this is a mystery that many have tried to crack. Sherlock Holmes would have a tough time with this one.
