Mary Anna was born in Chalgrove, Oxfordshire in 1852.[1] She was baptised at St Mary the Virgin, Chalgrove on 24th October 1852.[2] She was the daughter of Joseph and Charlotte (nee Dixey). Her father stated on the register that he was a labourer.
Marriage
Robert Holloway and Mary Anna Stone were married in Watlington, Oxfordshire on 25th October 1874.[3] They were both resident in the parish at the time and on the parish register it noted that the marriage took place "in the schoolroom in the parish of Watlington". Robert was 36 years of age, a widower, working as an engineer and the son of Richard Holloway who was a smith. Mary Anna was a 25 year old spinster, working as a cook and the daughter of Joseph Stone who was a labourer. They both signed their own names on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were James Bridgett and Elinor Holloway.[4]
