Research Notes

In the 1920 census, Dorothy is married and living with her parents, but not with her husband.

Several ancestry.com families believe that Dorothy Stone married Fred Eugene Black. But what sources support the marriage of Dorothy (Stone) Breitenbecker to Fred Eugene Black? Clearly, he married a Dorothy, but is it our Dorothy Stone? After all, Dorothy Breitenbecker lived in Bloomsburg, PA with her mother in 1930. How could she also live in Sherburne NY with Fred Black in 1930? Also, the 1930 census says that the first marriage for both Fred and Dorothy was about 1922. Dorothy's should have been 1918. Many ancestry.com families say this was Dorothy Irene Stone. But the daughter of Martyn and Nettie (Atwell) Stone was Dorothy Atwell Stone.
