Archelaus Stone was born about 1781, in Cornwell, Litchfield Co., CT.

Archelaus married on the 24th of March 1814 in Boston, Massachusetts, Rhoda Tiffaney. Microfilm of original record says Archelaus Stone is from Boston and Rhoda Tiffaney is from Douglas. The original record spells Rhoda's surname as "Tiffaney" while typed index list her surname as "Tiffney".

Archelaus purchased land in Douglas, Worcester, MA on the 6th of February, 1816 from Nathaniel B. Mors, as mentioned in Archelaus Stone's will.

Archelaus made his last will and testament on the 13th day of December, 1855. Archelaus' will reads in part as follows: " . . . I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rhode Stone, my homestead farm situate in said Douglas, containing one hundred acres, be the same more or less, Being the same that was conveyed to me by deed of Nathaniel B. Mors, dated Feb. 6, 1816, and recorded in the Registry of deeds for said county Book 206, page 200. Including my woodlots situate in Sutton in said county, containing twenty acres more or less, known as the Brickyard, woodlot . . . I give and bequeath to my ten children . . . The names of my children are as follows, to wit, Caroline Whipple wife of Descter Whipple, Julia A. Emmons wife of Nelson Emmons, David Stone, Edwin Stone, Almira Hews, wife of George W. Hews, William Stone, Atherlinda Collar wife of John Collar, Francis Stone, Sarah A. Stone wife of Archlans Stone and Angenette Clarke wife of Rev. William C. Clarke . . . I appoint my beloved wife Rhode and my son in law Descter Whipple, Executors of this my last will and testament. Wittnesses: Henry Howell, Russell Titus and Francis Deane."

Note: Descter Whipple, is actually Dexter Whipple and Atherlinda Collar is actually Etherlinda Chollar wife of John Chollar. Angenette Clarke is actually Angenette Clark.

Archelaus Stone died on the 1st day of January, 1856, age 75, in Douglas, Worcester Co., MA. Cause of death is listed as consumption on page 133, of the Death Register in the town of Douglas for the Year 1856.

Archelaus' will was submitted for probate on the 5th of February, 1856.
