As coxswain of Whitby Lifeboat he died following its 'upsetting' on 8 February 1861.[7] [8] [9]

Memorial Inscripton reads: Erected In Remembrance Of JOHN STORR, Coxswain Who was drowned with eleven others by the upsetting of the lifeboat at Whitby February 8th 1861 And interred here April 28th 1861 Aged (5)0 years

John died on 9 February 1861 in Yorkshire, England and his estate passed probate on 12 June 1861 in Yorkshire, England.[11]

In 1863 a memorial was erected in St Mary's Church, Whitby, in memory of the twelve fishermen who perished on 9 February 1861, when the lifeboat they were crewing capsized.

Matthew Leadley, aged 37 years, George Martin, aged 25 years, John Philpot, aged 44 years, William Storr, aged 45 years, William Tyerman, aged 27 years, William Walker, aged 53 years, who. with Henry Freeman, the only survivor, were the crew of the Whitby lifeboat on the 9th of February, 1861. Research Notes

This is the only baptism I've found, but it's Whitby, not Danby: John, son of William Storr and Barbara Storr, was born on 25 Jan and baptised on 4 February 1811 in Whitby: St Mary, Yorkshire, England.[12]
