Birth

Mary was born at Largo in Fife, in the Parish of Leslie on 18 Jan 1845 and she was living with her grandfather on the Leslie Estates at the time of the Census in 1851 when she was 6.^[1][2]

The family was living at Colinsburgh in the Parish of Kilconquhar in Fife prior to 1861 where her father was a Carter in the Parish.^[3]

Her sister, Catherine, married a James Mason in 1873 and there is some confusion regarding the names of the two sisters. Catherine died in 1888 and James Mason remarries. The family then migrated to Canada but it is not yet known what happened to Mary.
