Biography

William Straw was born 22 May 1686 in Amesbury.^[1]

He was for several years in the service of Thomas Barnard, Sr., of Amesbury, for which 'as alsoe for divers other good & Lawful Motives' conveys 14 February 1707/08 to William a parcel of four acres and a half of upland in Amesbury, it being a part of a lot in a division called Whitchers hill division and being the tenth lot in number.^[2]

William married 30 July 1713, Lydia Purington, in Amesbury. ^[3][4]

William Straw of Amesbury, yeoman, died sometime after 12 August 1747 when he acknowledges a deed dated 8 April 1747 in which he sells to his son William Straw, Jr., of Amesbury, yeoman, his homestead and another tract of land in Amesbury and a tract of land in South Hampton, with all his moveable estate, goods and chattels.^[5]
