Biography

Joseph was baptised on 4 Oct 1846 in Norfolk. In 1851 Joseph was 10 yrs old and a scholar and lived with his mother, two brothers and his pauper grandfather, Richard, in 33 Albert Street, Leveriington, Wisbech, Norfolk, UK

Joseph was a journeyman and a lath render as was his father. Joseph married twice - the first time in 1859 to Ann Livermore in Wisbech and they had a son called George. When George was old enough to work, Joseph and Ann (???????) sailed to Portland, Maine, US and settled in New Hampshire in 1871. This is where Phoebe was born in 1873 and died 1878. Phoebe's mother was recorded as Hannah M Streader on findagrave. Joseph married Valeria Dyer in 1857. They had four daughters (two were stillborn) and two sons.

He made one trip back to the Uk in 1908 but returned to USA as he was a naturalised citizen in 1878.
