Joseph Strunk was born around 1868 allegedly at Pine Knot in Whitley County, Kentucky to Daniel Strunk and Melinda Ryan. On March 12, 1912, Pine Knot became part of McCreary County, Kentucky. Joseph married Minnesota Newport on February 23, 1888 in Scott County, Tennessee. Between 1888 and 1900, Joseph and Minnesota moved to Tomahawk Township in Searcy County, Arkansas. By 1930, they had moved to Prue in Osage County, Oklahoma. Joseph worked as a manger for a cooperative farming project in Prue. Joseph passed away on March 31, 1930 of double pneumonia at his home in Prue, Osage County, Oklahoma.
